Sleep Apnea Can Kill
Have you ever felt the need to pull off the road to have a short sleep in the middle of the day? If your sleep apnea is severe, you can possibly kill other people because of it. Imagine driving while sleepy. Sleep apnea is a serious threat to yourself and other people.
The biggest warning sign of sleep apnea is snoring. The same sleep conditions that cause snoring cause sleep apnea. The muscles in the air passages relax, causing the soft palate at the base of the tongue to obstruct the airway. This blockage results in an interruption in breathing while a sufferer sleeps. These interruptions in breathing, or apneas, can last from five seconds to a minute. When breathing recommences, the result is a snore. Frighteningly, a sufferer of sleep apnea may actually cease breathing anywhere from five to one hundred times during sleep. It is no wonder why people with sleep apnea are tired.
